When Liz saw that the call was from a client involved in next week’s court case, she turned to Naomi and said, “Naomi, go ahead. I’ll take this call.”

“Alright.”

Liz stepped aside and answered. On the other end, Shannon Wilson asked if they could meet during lunch, saying she had some new documents to hand over.

Shannon and her husband had been college classmates. They married shortly after graduating and had a daughter together. But when their daughter turned two, Shannon discovered he was having an affair with one of his coworkers.

She filed for divorce and requested custody of their daughter, but his family hid the child and refused to let her see her.
