Chapter 257 Chapter 260 Anna's POV: I'm leaving the estate," I said. "Fine, whatever." He sounded impatient. "If that's all, I'm hanging up." "Wait!" I shouted, my voice echoing through the mansion. "You were sleeping next to Claire," I said carefully. 'Yes, we're in the same room," Blake replied flatly. I nodded, though he couldn't see me. "When will you come back? Let's get divorced." Blake took a deep breath, irritation evident in his voice. "Got it. I'll let you know." Having received my answer, I hung up. I wondered if Blake's feelings for Claire were truly just brotherly.

With William gone, the only obstacle between them had disappeared. Blake must have rushed to be with Claire as soon as he was discharged. I don't know and I don't want to know, I thought. All that matters is that now we can finally divorce. I pushed past the grand doors of the Wright Estate, and nobody tried to stop me. Nobody even noticed. The last time I'd entered this place, Blake had carried me in his arms, and even though it had been the middle of the night, someone had been there to light our way. Now, I was walking out alone, and the contrast wasn't lost on me.

The cool breeze hit my face as I took my first deep breath outside. It felt strange. Not exactly like freedom should taste. I had mentally prepared for a long, drawn-out battle with Blake-I was ready to spend half my life fighting if necessary. And now, after all my efforts, Blake finally seemed disgusted with me. It was like putting all your strength into pushing a door, only to realize it was never locked to begin with. The force sent me stumbling forward, crashing into the wall on the other side, leaving me dazed. I didn't look back as I walked away from the Wright Estate.

There was no reason to. My marriage was effectively over, wasn't it? The thought should have brought relief, but instead, I'felt hollow. When I reached my apartment in Back Bay, I stood at the entrance, unable to move forward. A layer of dust had settled over everything. My own home, and I couldn't find a clean place to step. I stood frozen at the threshold, staring at the floor. I couldn't say how long I stayed there, but long enough for the blood in my veins to run cold. I had escaped the Wright family, but now I had nowhere to go.

Blake's POV: "Just leave me alone!" I growled, hurling the crystal tumbler across the room. It shattered against the wall, pieces scattering across the pristine floor of the private clinic room. Claire was crying, her mascara running down her cheeks. "Blakey, please calm down." I couldn't hear her. All I could think about was Anna's cold voice when she told me she wanted a divorce. The memory alone pushed me toward the edge of a 1/2 Chapter 260 cliff I'd been teetering on for weeks. Before I knew what I was doing, I grabbed one of the glass shards and pressed it deep into my forearm.
