Substitute Wife, Genius CEO Novel - Chapter 80
Wedding car?
Summer smiled. No wonder he was so anxious, calling her specifically just to coax her.
It turned out he had prepared it for Lily.
"Well—alright then," Summer agreed reluctantly, though there was a distinct smile in her voice. "I'll drive it back shortly."
Hearing the undeniable smile in Summer's voice, Xavier breathed a sigh of relief, entirely convinced that she still cared about their wedding.
He instructed gently, "Drive safe, and be careful on the road."
If she hadn't already known the truth, she might have actually believed he was worried about her safety rather than the car.
In his eyes, the wife who had stood by his side for seven years was worth less than a luxury vehicle.
Summer glanced at Leo next to her. She stepped on the gas and dropped him off at home first.
Before reaching the complex, she called Tessa in advance, and Tessa came downstairs specifically to pick Leo up.
Tessa walked a lap around the car, clicking her tongue. "This is the one worth millions of dollars?"
Summer nodded.
"That scumbag," Tessa muttered under her breath so Leo wouldn't hear. "He never hesitates to throw cash at other women." This chapter was copied from NovelCEO without permission.
Summer rushed her. "You guys head upstairs first. I'm going to return his car 'safely' to him."
Tessa had a pretty good idea of what Summer was planning, but with Leo standing right there, she didn't want to say anything that might scare him.
All she could do was repeatedly beg Summer to be extremely careful.
An hour later, at the police station.
The safety features on Xavier's car were top-tier. Summer was completely uninjured, but the car had been crashed beyond recognition.
Xavier barged into the police station lobby, his face dark, radiating a freezing aura.
The attending officer assumed he was worried about Summer and quickly reassured him. "Rest assured, Mr. Sterling. Your wife is perfectly fine. The safety features on that car are excellent."
Xavier obviously knew the safety features were excellent. He gritted his teeth and demanded, "How did the crash happen?"
The officer replied, "Mrs. Sterling is very compassionate. She swerved into the median to avoid a stray cat."
"A cat?" All for a cat?!
Xavier was shaking with rage, his hands curling into tight fists. This chapter is updated first at novelcеo.com.
Hearing his voice, Summer looked over and immediately spotted his furious, stone-cold face. She laughed inwardly.
But outwardly, she forced a tearful, heartbroken expression, pitching her voice into a pitiful whine. "Honey, our wedding car is ruined! What do we do?"
Xavier looked like he was about to explode from pure fury, but he had to maintain his dignity since they were in a police station.
He took several deep breaths to suppress his anger. Standing in front of Summer, he glared down at her coldly. "Were you speeding?"
"No?" Summer blinked innocently, tears clinging to her lashes as she looked at him. "Why would you think that?"
The officer quickly backed her up. "Mr. Sterling, your wife definitely wasn't speeding. She was driving normally."
Xavier signed the paperwork with a dark expression and dragged Summer out of the station.
"Honey, what about our wedding car? Is it salvageable?"
Mangled like that, it obviously wasn't. Summer was just deliberately pushing his buttons.
"You still want a wedding?" Xavier stopped in his tracks, turning to stare at her with dark, heavy eyes. "Didn't you want a divorce?"
The chauffeur pulled up. Xavier yanked the car door open, pulled out a document, and handed it to her expressionlessly. "I'm granting your wish. Sign it. Tomorrow we go to City Hall."
Summer looked at him in surprise, took the document, and glanced down. It actually was the divorce agreement!
