Chapter 508: Norene's smile faltered. She hadn't anticipated Alex's appetite to be this insatiable, but perhaps that made him easier to manipulate. These were minor issues as long as Lorenzo could inherit the Hughes family. "Fine. But first, you'll need to prove you're the real Alex." Gracie's heart thudded as she was ushered before Waylon. He was engrossed in a financial magazine, flipping through its pages. "What is it?" he asked without lifting his gaze. Norene was unperturbed by his indifference. "Mr.

Hughes, you once said that if Lorenzo could locate the real Alex, he would regain his inheritance rights. Does that still stand?" At this, Waylon finally closed the magazine and turned his sharp gaze on her. "Of course," he said. His attention then shifted to Gracie. Lorenzo, more cautious this time after the debacle of the last impostor, tread carefully. "Mr. Hughes, since Alex's identity is so critical, I thought it best to bring him to you immediately. But, given no one's ever seen the real Alex, do you have a way to confirm this is him?" Waylon's gaze flicked between Lorenzo and Norene.

"The two of you, wait outside." Without protest, they exited, leaving Gracie alone in the lion's den. → ⲁν﹒ Waylon's stare was ice-cold. "Get into the Hughes Group's secure system." "May I use your computer?" "Be my guest." She approached with deliberate confidence, her steps measured. Powering up the system, she entered the password. Waylon's brow arched, a flicker of admiration flashing across his face. "Well done, Alex. Cracking the password on the first attempt... impressive!" Gracie's fingers froze mid-type. Beneath the mask, her expression tightened in silent frustration.

A careless mistake! She had entered Waylon's password out of pure habit, forgetting entirely to feign effort. Gracie refrained from speaking further, focusing solely on her rapid keyboard work. Moments later, she halted. "All set." Curious, Waylon moved to inspect her progress and confirmed Gracie's success in breaching the Hughes Group's security network. A brief hint of skepticism flashed in his eyes, which quickly dispersed. "Ask them to come in." Inwardly, Gracie felt a surge of irritation. Was she merely a servant now? Despite her inner resistance, she mechanically advanced to the door.
