Chapter 49 The Gate Blocked 6%! Finished Wendy didn't even bother letting William finish scanning her contact card. She lifted her heel and strode straight toward Helen. "Helen!" She reached out and stopped her. "What are you doing here?" She glanced sideways at the nearby guards and put on a look of fake kindness. "You need to leave. This place is a national security zone. Anyone wandering too close might be mistaken for a foreign spy. If these Department of Defense guards take you away, it'll be embarrassing and a huge hassle." She pointed at Helen's phone. "You can't use your phone here.

And you definitely can't take photos." She grabbed Helen's arm. "You just got back, so maybe you want to take pictures and show off. I won't blame you for not knowing the rules. But come with me now. Don't cause trouble for the family." Her words sounded caring. But every sentence was meant to catch the guards' attention and make them believe Helen was a vain girl trying to take photos inside a top-secret facility, risking national leaks. But the Department of Defense guards didn't move at all. Helen didn't look at her either. She walked straight toward the access gate.

William caught up from behind. Being brushed off by Wendy earlier had stung his pride. But when he saw Helen's face, his eyes brightened with surprise. He tugged on his lab coat so the institute badge was visible, cleared his throat, and said, "Miss, Wendy is right. This is a highly classified research area. Unauthorized people must stay away. "You look young. Don't ruin your future just because you want attention." He straightened his coat again, making sure the badge was obvious.

"If you're that curious about the institute, I can tell you some interesting things about it." Helen paused, lifting her clear eyes toward him. Seeing her stop because of him, William grew even more smug. He flashed a smile he thought was charming and pushed up his glasses. Then he began bragging loudly about how he was one of Philip's top students, what projects he led, what level he held, and how many problems he had solved, Both girls were looking at him, and he enjoyed every second of it. He grew excited as he spoke.

"You probably don't know his, but last night at exactly eleven fifty, the institute's core data showed a huge spike. Everyone has been working nonstop because of it. Honestly, if I hadn't stepped in, the whole system would've collapsed, Helen's fingers, resting on her phone, paused slightly. Her eyes narrowed. The institute detected the anomaly at 1:37 am. And based on her calculations, the trap program had been inserted at 11:52 p.m. 1/2 12:48 Mon, Apr 13 Chapter 49 The Gate Blocked So how did William know the exact trap-insertion time?
