Layla’s breath caught. Her fingers unconsciously clutched at Shane’s sleeve.

Shane didn’t rush. He didn’t push. The tip of his tongue traced over her lips again and again, patient, until he felt her resistance soften, until her lips parted the tiniest, nearly imperceptible fraction.

Then he held back nothing. He held back no longer. He swept past her lips and deepened the kiss, tangling. A entwining, until Layla’s cheeks flushed crimson and her breathing grew labored.

Only then did he release her, pressing his forehead to hers. “Layla. I like you so much.”

Layla shoved the fur blanket off her head and gulped in deep breaths. She reached down and pinched Shane’s waist.
